Stuff accumulates, right? Before you know it, you have a home in which cupboards and rooms are packed with things you rarely use, or don’t use at all. It can be stressful, annoying and time consuming because the thing you really want is hidden among the things you don’t.
But what do you do about it?
You declutter! We know all about this at Store & Stack Self Storage in Tauranga as many of our clients have taken stress out of their lives by decluttering. With that in mind, we thought we’d give you a little guidance to help make the process easier.
Decluttering point one: get a storage game plan
Decluttering point two: pick a room
It’s pretty straightforward this tip – you pick a room you want to declutter and you don’t move on to the next room until you’re finished. The reason is that unless you complete a room, there’s a risk of being sidetracked by other rooms’ clutter. Get one room done and then move onto the next.
Tip – start with the garage first as this is the most commonly cluttered space, this will help reduce the frustration of not being able to fit the car in the garage. Did you know that there are several benefits to getting organised in the winter?
Decluttering point three: pack things properly
If you are going to put things from your decluttering mission into storage, then you need to pack them right. For example, if you were storing furniture then remember to empty all the contents from the drawers. Or if you were storing a device, then try and find the original box and tape up the gaps to prevent dust from getting into the device.
